Priority Based Remedies

“Is not the action of nature like the stretching of a bow?
The high, it pulls down; the low, it lifts up;
It takes from what is in excess
In order to make good of what is deficient.
Who can take what they have in excess and offer it to others?”

The concept of Priority Based Remedies is adaptogenic in nature. Adaptogens were an early part of Chinese medicine which emphasized the prevention of illness and the general promotion of health. One of the unique features of both Chinese and Western Herbal medicine is that we can use plant-based botanicals to generally and greatly benefit the individual, not to specifically treat a disease. Herbal remedies that support the normal Qi function are called tonics. These tonics have been demonstrated to have a significant impact on the immune system including both the innate and adaptive immune systems of the body.

During the creation of Chinese medical theory, healthy immunity was viewed as a working combination of the Wei (guards) and the Ying (army camps). The guards worked with the qi or energy system of body, which is the lighting fast distribution system. The Ying, equally important, was the slower, substantial blood system.

Generally, tonic herbs are divided into categories.
Qi tonics have been found to have a very positive impact on the immune system. They help to restore energy and to build blood. There is a separate class of blood nourishing herbs which focus specifically on blood imbalances such as anemia and nutrient deficient blood.

Two other categories of tonic herbs, yin tonics and yang tonics are unique in both concept and application. Since yin and yang equate with the energetic kidney function, which is thought to impact the brain and endocrine system, these tonic herbs have a direct effect on the hypothalamus, pituitary and the adrenals. Yin tonics help to bring fluids into the tissues of the body and to balance hormonal levels. Yang tonics bring warmth and core energy into the major organs and may also nourish kidney essence, the root energy of the entire system.

After my return from a remote region in Nepal, I reflected on how much our current condition of imbalance and disease is brought on through exposure to the modern lifestyle. Cancer, prostate issues, obesity, diabetes, digestive system problems and other western diseases mostly do not exist in the Himalayas. Our world of toxins, contamination of air, water and food, electromagnetic pollution and stress have created a state of overwhelm in the body. As a result, the body’s natural ability to cleanse and regenerate is affected.

There is a subtle balance between removing toxins/draining the excess and supplementing the cells. The complications of life and of the human body indicate that there needs to be removal and support at the same time! Since the cellular processes are extremely complex, the task can be difficult. It is important to determine exactly what the body needs.

Priority Based remedies recognizes the unique nature of each individual. A customized remedy goes a long way to help maximize benefits and insure the remedy is targeting the area of the body, the associated meridian and indeed the very cells for which it is intended.

The Dynamic Concept of the Chakras

“The chakras are not only vortexes of energy, they are also centers of psychic reception.”
-Catherine Carrigan

It is said that every person is somewhat psychic; they just don’t associate with it. We all have a particular approach to realizing the truth of things and seeing as we are all dissimilar, we all have a peculiar way of making sense of the world around us. Our approaches to awareness and perception are mainly supported by intuitive judgments. Psychic intuition is a perception hinged gift. To reinforce one’s psychic potential, one must master how to repose on their inherent strengths.

Being a doctor of Oriental Medicine, and a practitioner of Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Chinese and Western Herbal Medicine, Nutritional Counseling and a broad range of other holistic therapies for over two decades, I have taken note of the fact that among the most reliable methods to build upon our intuitive strengths is working with our chakras. The chakras are energy centers located all through your body. These centers are channels for universal energy. This universal energy nurtures the bond between your awareness and that of the higher mind. Psychic perception is a fruit of balanced energy centers and connectedness. Many people subscribe to the spell of some greater power that paves the way for them in their psychic awareness. Time and again, their bodies and minds become bearers of spiritual knowledge. Even supposing they may not be aware of it; their chakras are most likely assisting the progress of their knowledge.

So, what exactly does Chakra mean?
Chakra literally means “the wheel” in Sanskrit. They are circular, funnel-shaped energy centers that are thought to be positioned in the etheric energy body also called the subtle body. Since we are talking about the body, let us add detail to the concept.

In a general sense, the body has a framework of energy centers which can be referred to as chakras in that they bear a resemblance to spinning wheels. These chakras are at the helm for energy flow as they can flow from one area to another. Chakras are linked to the lucidity of existence as the sound, the color, and light all bond perfectly with these energy centers. In the course of healing, the aim is to balance chakras by lining them up appropriately with a primary role of understanding nature as it is in relation to the universe and the purpose of the humans in nature. They also transmit out into the energy field around us the reverberation of our thoughts, emotions, and physical health. If you can see energy psychically, analyzing a person’s chakras and aura can give you a glimpse of what they might be experiencing or how well their instincts and physical body are serving them.

There are seven major chakras located throughout the body. Each chakra is aligned with a location close up to the spinal column. It is most crucial to note that each chakra has an identical endocrine system. Your body takes on a pivotal role in psychic widening. It is important that your energy centers and endocrine glands work in balance. Balancing your body through the opening of your chakras can facilitate the flux of psychic knowledge in the form of a universal energy.

Research, experimentation and positive results from energy healing have been recorded for thousands of years through the whole of history. The super subtle, imperceptible energy which runs with inner chakras is generally referred to by many spiritual names such as Prana (Hindu), Chi (Chinese) or Ruach (Hebrew), just to name a few. For simplicity sake, I will refer to this life force as Prana and Chi kind of interchangeably throughout the rest of this article.

When I speak of using Prana for Energy Healing or as a substance, I am not referring to it as energy or substance likened to mechanical, electrical or gravitationaly produced. For lack of better words, I am simply resorting to the words energy or substance to conjure up a natural force and non-material stuff. Despite the fact that worthy attempts have been made by forward-thinking researchers, not a soul has yet to develop instruments or mechanism that can precisely measure or hold this invisible, universal energy. We cannot perceive it, yet we can observe its products through healing and by witnessing the vital force in all beings. Likewise, we cannot see electricity, but we can perceive its results by the production of heat and light.

To begin to cultivate your potentials, it is of the essence to call to mind which chakras provide you with verified energies throughout your body. So in this article, we are going to focus on the dynamic concept of the chakras. And even though there are 114 different chakra systems, but for our purposes, we are considering the system of the seven main chakras, which run posterior and anterior, beginning at the base of the spine and running all the way up to the crown of the head.

The Concept of Distance Healing

Distance Healing

One of the quantum behaviors known to modern physicists is the concept of non-locality. Non-locality describes how two particles separated in space even by millions of years can act together as if each one knows what the other is doing. For example, when identical twins are studied, there seems to be some kind of inexplicable connection between them and the bond goes beyond having similar thoughts to situations in which one twin might know at the very instance that the other has had a serious accident or died. Enter the concept of non-locality the mysterious bond between separated particles.

No-one has ever discovered a signal uniting a healer and the person being healed. Because of this, the theories about distance healing have often been called pseudoscientific. However, some research findings have documented distant mental influence on biological systems. It seems that under certain conditions, it is possible for one person to effectively influence bodily activities and even the mental activities of another person.

These techniques are known by a lot of names including intercessory prayer, energy healing, shamanic healing, nonlocal healing, and Reiki. Because this healing is considered nonlocal it actually defies classical physics. Einstein defined this as spooky action at a distance and it does seem that there is a lot of evidence for quantum non-locality.

Rather than pretending that we have all of the answers, the bottom-line is that we don’t know exactly how this stuff works. This has been true for many branches of medicine including drugs such as aspirin. We knew that they worked before we figured out how. We still don’t know how a lot of drugs and medicines work, including general anesthetic, but it doesn’t mean that they don’t work.

Many people believe in the power of prayer. So many people consider that praying for the benefit or the improvement in someone’s body to be a very basic form of distance healing. People have been using prayer for thousands of years in order to help the body to balance. The theory here is that we are beings comprised of energy and somehow using prayer helps to boost this energy system.

Another way to think about distant healing is as a form of wireless technology similar to a cellphone that is then transmitting healing through a frequency of intention or awareness. Everything is connected. Everything is part of a continuous whole and as such distance is not a factor, as different forms of energy are all that there is.

Distance Healing through intention

Since the beginning of time there have been individuals who could purportedly heal people just through their intentions. In the modern world, this type of healing is referred to as distance healing. It is a form of therapy and can be defined as some a kind of mental focus that is directed to the restoration of health of an individual who is not within the same room as the sender.

Experiments have shown that intention can affect a person’s body across time and space and that if one is trained in intention with good will, the effect is greatest. Other studies have shown that distance healing can even heal small size tumors.

We still don’t know how a lot of drugs and medicines worked including general anesthetic but it doesn’t mean that they don’t work.

There are four basic principles of physics that underlie intention and the mechanism behind distance healing that have been described:

  1. The first one is that intention is transmitted by some kind of an unknown energy signal.
  2. The second is that intentions somehow warp space time much like gravity creating pathways for connection.
  3. The third is that people, like particles are described in quantum physics, have instantaneous communication across distance
  4. The fourth is that intention is much like measurement in quantum physics in that it organizes random possibilities such as how multiple functions can be collapsed into a single function.

One of the quantum behaviors that is known to modern physicist is non-locality. Non-locality describes how two particles separated in space even by millions of years can act together as if each one knows what the other is doing. For example, when identical twins are studied, there seems to be some kind of an inexplicable connection between them and the bond goes beyond having similar thoughts to situations in which one twin might know at the very instance that the other twin has had a serious accident or has died. This speaks to the concept of non-locality, which is this inexplicable bond between separated particles.

Another term for non-locality would be quantum entanglement, so this is the idea that objects can impact one another at a great distance. The tiny objects can be quanta like electrons and photons, or even a larger matter such as atoms and molecules.

Anthropologists who study cultures around the world have documented that there are non-local connections in consciousness, and that there must be some kind of information exchange between two people or even between groups of people regardless of the separation of time and space.

For example, a link between people and their environment may have saved the lives of the Sentinelese people living on the Andaman Islands in the Indian Ocean. They were isolated from the rest of the world, and as such they would have perished in the 2004 Asian tsunami. But they all survived because they have moved up to high ground long before the tsunami hit.

No one has ever discovered a signal uniting a healer and the person being healed. Because of this, the theories about distant healing really resemble some kind of psychic event such as telepathy or clairvoyance.

As Dr. Larry Dossey explains: The reason that we don’t know how healing happens is because we have bumped up against the three most mysterious entities in the universe: consciousness, space and time. To really understand distance healing requires penetrating these mysteries which we have been unable to do up until this point.

One distance study was done with blood cells and they found that sending positive energy to the blood cells slowed the rate of cells bursting in a salt solution. So, the hypothesis was that the supportive energy sent to the cells helped to strengthen the cell walls.

In numerous studies, they found that it really doesn’t matter if the person who is sending the positive energy was inches way or thousand miles away from the person receiving. These studies have been repeated with humans, with animals, with plants and with cells themselves. Of course, there are studies that demonstrate that nothing happens. However, it seems that there are many studies that support the results of distance healing.

Another way to think about distant healing is as a form of wireless technology similar to a cellphone that is then transmitting healing through a frequency of intention or awareness. Everything is connected. Everything is part of a continuous whole and as such distance is not a factor, as different forms of energy are all that there is.

Through their research, The PEAR Lab at Princeton University has established that there is an information field which exists and which penetrates all known barriers. It does not weaken with distance. It can go backward and forwards in time and that somehow is able to influence consciousness.

Although distant healing or non-local healing has been around for many many thousands of years the investigation into this field is in its infancy.

As physicist Sir Arthur Eddington said, “something unknown is doing we don’t know what”. Meanwhile therapist and facilitators will continue to direct positive energy from a distance to their clients with noticeable results.
